So, Why Hypnosis?

Is there really such a thing as Hypnosis?

Is hypnosis really something that can help people overcome issues and challenges that seem to have a hold on them? Or is it something that should be left on the stage for entertainment purposes? What is the history of hypnosis and how is it relevant today? And how can hypnotherapy help you with your problem?

People can find themselves looking for a hypnotist for a number of reasons. Perhaps you have a bad habit such as smoking that you are trying to break. Or maybe you want to lose weight and tried all the diets but nothing has helped. Another reason may be because of a relationship breakdown, or jealousy in a relationship, be it business or personal. All these are common reasons as to why someone may be considering hypnotherapy to help them with their everyday issues or challenges.

Hypnotherapy is not a new concept.  It has been around since the beginning of time. Yet Hypnotherapy became only slightly more understood by physicians around the 19th century. Fact is, no-one really knows why Hypnosis works even though we know how it works and it does work!

Hypnosis is just a form of focused relaxation that allows access to the unconscious mind. The hypnotist guides your attention away from the everyday world so you can concentrate on a goal, such as overcoming a fear or quitting smoking. What you then experience when you’re hypnotised is called an ‘altered state of consciousness’. So you’re awake, but you’re not paying attention to the ‘conscious’ world in the same way you normally do. Instead, your thoughts are focused inward.

Hypnosis works because the change is made at the unconscious level, which is where all your habits are stored and run your life. Hypnosis is 100% safe, and is very effective at changing deep-rooted issues and habits… fast.

The saying that everyone can be hypnotised is a bit of a misnomer.  Research shows that people with the ability to perceive what is going on around them and recognise changes in their own awareness may block themselves from being helped through therapy. That means they themselves consciously decide they will not surrender to the process of hypnosis and trance. Intent is very important for any hypnosis session to be successful. So unless you intentionally set not to be hypnotised or you have severe limited mental capacity; everyone can be hypnotised and everyone is several times a day in their normal life. If you watch TV, listen to music, drive your car, daydream… trust me you have been hypnotised and experienced trance.

Hypnotherapy has also been tested along with modern medicines to analyse people’s different responses to treatment. On a number of occasions, groups of people who are receiving the same medical treatment have been separated and hypnosis therapy has been given to one section of the group to see what affects may occur.  More often than not, those who received hypnosis therapy felt less pain and anxiety, and made a speedier recovery, which in turn, saved costs on medical treatment.

It is unfortunate that most people’s first introduction to hypnotherapy is stage hypnosis which gives the idea that hypnotherapy is where someone puts you under a spell and controls your movements causing you to perform in front of an audience some kind of bizarre act.

This is not what hypnotherapy is about.

When a person looks to a hypnotist to help them with their problem, although they will be put in a very relaxed state, they are always going to be aware of what is happening around them. Hypnosis is not about taking away anyone’s control. You are always in control and you control the depth of your trance.

Hypnosis provides an effective alternative for better health and personal development. It can assist you to break free from any destructive thought patterns or habits. But it’s not just about tackling problems.  It is also about making effortless change, getting in touch with what has made you the way that you are now, and letting you take control to become the person you really want to be. Because when the mind and body are working in harmony your chance of success in achieving your goals is greatly increased.  A few sessions of HYPNOSIS can give you the edge you need.

It’s time for you to reach your peak!
